Franziska Harman is an award winning garden-designer and plants woman based in Kent.
Her excellent knowledge of plants was acquired during her 2 1/2 year formal training in horticulture at the Botanical Gardens, Tübingen in Germany, a three year degree course in Landscape Design at the University of Munich- Weihenstephan, and 20 years experience as a gardener, both in the UK and her native Germany.
She started her business in Germany and moved with her family to England in 2000. Since then she has designed gardens and planting schemes for private clients. Her first show garden was 'The Literacy Garden', a, collaboration with the children of Challock Primary School in Kent for the Hampton Court Flower Show 2008, where the garden was awarded a 'Silver Gilt' medal.
It is of primary importance to her to create a garden exactly tailored to the needs of her clients in which they can feel, not only, immediately at home, but also excited at the prospect of its development and growth into an established garden. A strong emphasis, with regards to her planting schemes and choice of materials, is placed on providing an environment to maintain, and, or introduce wildlife into the garden.
A full garden design service can be provided, as well as redesigning parts of a garden, single or multiple borders, planting schemes or specific consultations to resolve problems in the client's garden.
